Documented international practice and our adaptation
Khan Academy presents Khanmigo as a teaching assistant and guided learning tool. We adapt the idea of prompting reasoning rather than supplying answers. Our paper activity is original, not a copy of the service. The provider description is not independent evidence for our activity; no account or universal free access is promised.
Reference and local gap
Stanford HAI’s educational orientation informs the starting point. Our original teacher activity asks learners to explain a choice and its source, rather than only give an answer. It is not an institute programme.
A twenty-minute trial
- 3 minutes: pose a non-sensitive question: why does rainfall alone not guarantee water availability?
- 5 minutes: provide two teacher-prepared paragraphs, one with the false generalization that all stored water is safe to drink.
- 5 minutes: learners identify what needs checking and write a question for a reliable source.
- 5 minutes: correct the claim: suitability depends on source, storage and competent testing.
- 2 minutes: each learner explains one correction. Do not conduct drinking or storage experiments.
Technology and teacher roles
AI may suggest wording using general information; the teacher reviews it before class. Do not upload learner work or names. The activity works entirely on paper without a child’s account or phone.
Measure and stop condition
Compare short responses before and after: does the learner state a reason and a source? Record only aggregate reviewed responses and errors if school procedures permit. Stop wording that confuses drinking safety or reinforces a false claim. One session does not establish lasting improvement or causation.
Example teacher prompt
“Draft two short paragraphs for practicing verification of water information. Clearly mark the false generalization in the teacher copy and provide its correction. Give no drinking or practical experiment instructions, and invent no sources.” Review before sharing with learners.
